Sigurjón Jónsson fæddist árið 1848 í Eyjafjarðarsýslu. Ókvæntur og barnlaus. Hann flutti vestur til Ontario í Kanada árið 1874 og mun hafa verið í Kinmount fyrsta veturinn.
