Sigurður Erlendsson fæddist árið 1858 í Húnavatnssýslu. Maki: Medónía Indriðadóttir f. 1862 í Húnavatnssýslu. Börn: Jóhannes f. 1884. Þau fluttu vestur til Winnipeg í Manitoba árið 1887 og þar bjuggu þau áfram. Sigurður fékk vinnu hjá Winnipeg Waterworks Company og vann þar í 20 ár.
