Þorvarður Sveinsson fæddist árið 1850 í Mýrasýslu. Maki: Guðrún Jónsdóttir f. 1848 Börn: 1. Sigríður f. 1876 2. Sigurbjörg f. 1877 3. Sveinn f. 1879 4. Jón Júlíus f. 1880 5. Þorsteinn f. 1883 6. Þorbjörg f. 1887. Þorvarður fór vestur til Winnipeg árið 1886, Guðrún kom þangað með börnin ári seinna.
