Jón Múli Jónsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on August 21, 1905. He died in an automobile accident in Baltimore in 1941. He took his father’s last name in the west, Jón M Stefánsson.

Jón was the son of Jón Stefánsson and Solveig Jónsdóttir in Baltimore, Maryland. He moved there with his mother in 1919 and immediately started his high school education. Later he attended trade school and did some commercial work.
