Ásgerður was the daughter of Jóhannes Jónasson and Halla Jónsdóttir, who came west in 1886 and settled in New Iceland. Ármann was the son of Magnús Hallgrímsson and Sesselja Daníelsdóttir who came west in 1874 and settled in Mikley. Ármann and Ásgerður lived in the Víðir-Sand Hill Settlement.
