Guðrún Ívarsdóttir was born in Winnipeg in 1894. She died in Reykjavík on January 7, 1921. She was known as Gertie Jónasson in the west.

Guðrún was the daughter of Ívar Jónasson and Magnía Pétursdóttir. She was taken in as a foster child by Mangea’s sister Guðrún and her husband Jónas Jónasson. Guðrún and Jónas divorced in 1904 and Guðrún moved to Iceland. The namesake and niece stayed with Jonas in Winnipeg. In 1920, Guðrún went to Iceland to visit her aunt, intended to return to Winnipeg, but fell ill with pneumonia and died in Reykjavík.
