Sigríður was the daughter of Pálmi Lárusson and Guðrún Steinsdóttir who came west in 1893 and lived a long time in Gimli. Magnús’ parents were Egill Jónsson and Ragnhildur Magnúsdóttir from Flekkuvík in Gullbringusýsla. Sigríður and Magnús first lived in Winnipeg where Magnús worked at the Bardal funeral home. They moved from there to Árnes in New Iceland so Magnús could help his parents with the farming. They later moved to Riverton and lived there until 1942 when they moved back to Winnipeg.
