Þorsteinn Sæmundsson was 13 years old when he came west to Winnipeg in 1886. He soon started working for himself as there was a lot of construction work available. He became a master mason, formed a company with others, and built houses of various shapes and sizes. Over the years, he became one of the city’s leading builders.
