Sveinn Magnússon came west across the ocean at only 14 years old in 1879. He settled in Minnesota and went to school. He studied photography and opened his own photography studio in the town of Minneota in Lyon County. It was called “Magnus Photograph Studio”. Sveinn chose the patronymic name Magnus in Minnesota, as did his family.
