Kristjana Þóra Jóhannsdóttir was born in Barðastrandarsýsla on October 20, 1905. She died in Winnipeg in 1997. She was known as Þóra (Thora) Árnason in the west.
Spouse: January 27, 1940 Einar Árnason b. June 7, 1910 in Winnipeg, d. June 16, 2000 in Winnipeg.
Childless, but they adopted: 1. Yvonne Leigh b. January 13, 1941 2. Jan Elizabeth b. October 17, 1950.
Þóra grew up in Hænuvík at Patreksfjörður, daughter of Jóhann Pétur Magnússon and Ólöf Össurardóttir. They came west to Winnipeg in 1911 and lived there for a few years. From there the road led them to Arborg in 1916 where they lived until 1937. They moved back to Winnipeg. Þóra went to school in Winnipeg and Arborg, where she graduated from high school. She worked in retail and telegraphy. Þóra and Einar were always actively involved in the social affairs of Icelanders in Manitoba.
