Kristján Benediktsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1850. He died in Iceland in 1923.

Children: They had 16 children. Coming west with them were: 1. Anna b. 1873 2. Ingunn b. 1875 3. Sigurbjörg b. 1881 4. Þorbjörg b. 1883 5. Hannes b. 1884 6. Kristján b. 1885. Steinunn Helga b. 1881 came west in 1896. Guðlaug was born in the west in 1899.
They came west to Winnipeg in 1888 and were there the first year. They moved west to the Pacific and settled near Bellingham, Washington in 1889-90. It was in 1893 that the family moved to Point Roberts, Washington and Kristján had a poultry farm there. He went to Iceland at the turn of the century, stayed there for a while, but then returned to Point Roberts. The visit to Iceland probably played its part in feeling homesick, his patriotism drew him home and he died there. Guðrún survived her husband and lived with her children in Washington.
