Sigfús Salomon Jónasson was born in 1856 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He took the name Sigfús Salomon in the west. He died at Point Roberts, Washington in 1919.

Spouse: Guðrún Andrésdóttir b. 1854 in Húnavatnssýsla. She took the last name Salomon with marriage.

Children: Guðrún had these children with her first husband, Björn Stefánsson: 1. Jón b. 1886 2. Guðrún Júlía b. 1891. They also had a daughter who died young.

Sigfús was the son of Jónas Kortsson and Margrét Sveinsdóttir, pioneer settlers in N. Dakota. Before 1890, he moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Seattle. There he met Guðrún, the widow of Björn Stefánsson. They got married and in 1897 went to Point Roberts and settled on 40 acres of land. Sigfús turned out to be the best father to her children and they adopted his name Salomon.
