Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson was born on January 28, 1861 in Húnavatnssýsla. He died in Blaine, Washington in 1908. He took the last name Líndal in the west.

They came west in 1887, first settling in Garðar, N. Dakota but moving after two years to the Þingvalla settlement in Saskatchewan. Tremendous droughts on the plain drove them off their land three years later. They then went east to Selkirk, Manitoba and lived there for the next nine years. Then they moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Blaine, Washington.
