Bjarni and Guðríður came west in 1892 and a year later Reverend Jón Bjarnason married them in Winnipeg. They lived the first year in Winnipeg but then moved to the Argyle settlement. From there they headed north to the Narrows where they lived until 1898. That year they went to Big Point. A major flood in Lake Manitoba in the spring of 1902 drove them off their land and they lived just north of Westbourne for two years. They then went back to their land and were successful farming there.
