They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and took land in the Víðirnes settlement in New Iceland. They moved in the spring of 1880 to N. Dakota and lived with Halldór’s daughter Þórunn who lived near Grafton. They did not take land but continued to live with their daughter in the countryside near Grafton. They moved to Winnipeg in 1889.
