Elísabet was the daughter of Gísli Konráð Eiríksson and Elísabet Þuríður Jónsdóttir. She came west in 1876, with her widowed mother Elísabet (d. Winnipeg on April 5, 1889) and four of her children. Elísabet lived with her mother in New Iceland and in Winnipeg 1879. Elísabet was there until the turn of the century when she moved to Gimli and lived there for 19 years. She moved them back to Winnipeg. She was always very involved in the social affairs of her country.
