Sverrir was the son of Ívar Hjartarson and Guðnýj Rósa Stefánsdóttir. Ívar came to the West in 1913 and lived in the Lakes settlement. Guðný and Sverrir moved from there in 1927 and settled in Wynyard. Sverrir lived there the rest of his life and inherited his father’s land not far from the village. He had an extensive chicken farm there.
