Ragnheiður Halldórsdóttir was born in Ísafjarðarsýsla in 1822.
Spouse: October 28, 1858 Kristján Guðmundsson b. in Snæfellsnessýsla on August 11, 1834, d. October 14, 1899.
Children:1. Árni b. 1859, d. 1869 2. Guðmundur Halldór b. 1863, d. 1866.
In Kristján’s account documented on May 21, 1889, it is stated that Ragnheiður could not have more children and with her consent, Ragnhildur Kristín agreed to go along and give birth to Kristján’s children.
Kristján’s group on the journey west counted 10 people, because going west were Sigríður Salómonsdóttir, Kristján’s housekeeper, and Jósefína, Ragnhildur’s younger sister. They first went to Winnipeg where they heard good things about land south of the border in N. Dakota. The group moved there and lived there the rest of their lives.
