Friðrik came to Manitoba in 1903 and went to his uncle, Árni Sveinsson in the Argyle settlement. After a few years he moved to Winnipeg and learned the trade of a bricklayer. He lived there all the time, was active in the social affairs of his countrymen in the city. Gestný came to Winnipeg in 1910.
