Louise Ketilbjörg Þorsteinsdóttir was born on March 28, 1894 in the Þingvalla settlement in Saskatchewan. She died on October 22, 1954.

Louise was the daughter of Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson and Anna Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð). Magnús came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents and siblings in 1901. They lived there three years then moved to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1904. After his military service, he worked on his father’s land in the settlement from 1919 to 1939, but then became a carpenter in Leslie.
