Ásta Emilía Árnadóttir was born in S. Múlasýsla on March 10, 1898. She died on October 9, 1944.

Ásta came to the West in 1903 with her parents, Árni Torfason and Guðrún Sigríður Hákonardóttir Espólín. Friðrik came to the West in 1904 with his parents, Guðmundur Guðmundsson Nordal and Margrét Sigurðardóttir, and siblings. They settled in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1906 and Friðrik grew up there. He took land not far from Leslie and was a farmer there until 1950. He moved to Selkirk, Manitoba. He worked in construction there.
