Skúli Sigfússon was born on October 1, 1870 in S. Múlasýsla. He died in the Lundar settlement in 1969.

Skúli came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents and sisters in 1887. His brother Jón welcomed them in town and took them to his farm in the Lundar settlement where Skúli lived the rest of his life. Guðrún was the daughter of Guðmundur Bjarnason from Efstadal in Laugardal and Margrét Jónsdóttir from Húnavatnssýsla. She later married Arnór Árnason, who came west in 1887 and lived in Chicago. After that, Guðrún bore his father’s last name in the west. Skúli did various jobs during his first years in the Lundar settlement, mostly with his brother Jón. He took up land in 1896 southwest of Lundar with his mother.
