Pétur came west to Canada in 1876 from Krossdal in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. Sigurbjörg came west the same year with her parents, Bjarni Bjarnason and Guðbjörg Sveinsdóttir. It is unclear when Pétur’s and Sigurbjörg’s paths crossed, probably in Winnipeg because Lovísa was born there. Later they settled in Gimli and lived there ever after.
