Guðmundur Ólafsson Goodmanson was born in Manitoba on February 19, 1890. He died in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia on November 14, 1963.

Guðmundur was the son of Ólafur Guðmundsson and Margrét Kristjánsdóttir who came west in 1887. Arnbjörg came to the West with her parents, Bjarni Árnason and Ástríður Sigurðardóttir in 1900. Guðmundur married Arnbjörg in Manitoba and they began farming. They lived in Saskatchewan many years before moving to Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1935.
