Inga came west to Manitoba in 1888. Þorlákur came west with his mother, Guðlaugur Hallgrímsdóttir, and his sister, Petrína, in 1887. They went to the Argyle settlement and Þorlákur worked as a farmer and later bought his own farm. They lived all the time in the community. Inga came west alone in 1888.
