Ágústína Gísladóttir Bíldfell was born in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. She took the last name Hrappsted with marriage.

Ágústína was the daughter of Gísli Jónsson Bílfell and Valgerður Eiríksdóttir in Vatnabyggð. Otto was the son of Jón Jóhannesson Hrappsted and Margrét Jónsdóttir. They went west in 1893, but Margrét did not make it to the end of the journey, dying of childbirth on the ship while crossing the Atlantic. Otto went with his father to Winnipeg, from there to the Argyle settlement and in 1899 to Swan Valley (Álftárdalur) near Swan River in 1899. Otto went with his brother Einar west to Vatnabyggð in Saskatchewan in 1910. He settled near Leslie.
