Theodóre was the son of Einar Jóhannesson and Guðrún Abrahamsdóttir who were farmers in Sinclair, Manitoba. Júlía was the daughter of Magnús Jósefsson and Steinunn Ólafsdóttir who came west to N. Dakota in 1883 and lived there until 1895. Then they settled in Roseau, Minnesota and remained there until 1904, when they moved west to Blaine, Washington. Júlía followed her parents to Blaine where she and Theodóre lived.
