Guðfinnur Jónsson was born in Ísafjarðarsýsla on February 8, 1891.
Unmarried and childless.
Guðfinnur came to the West in 1910 and settld in Winnipeg. He remained there until 1912, then went west to Edmonton and from there to Wynyard, Saskatchewan in 1914. After a brief military service in 1916-17, he settled back in Winnipeg and worked as a house painter. From 1920-1923 he farmed in the Shoal Lake settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð) in Manitoba.
