Jakobína came west in 1888 with her mother, Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir, and siblings. The family settled in Mikley. Jónas came west to Manitoba in 1913 and first lived in the Argyle settlement and worked various agricultural jobs but later settled in Mikley. He was a farmer there until 1947, when he moved west to the Pacific Ocean and last lived in Vancouver.
