Stefán’s parents were Stefán Þorkell Scheving and Anna Valgerður Guðmundsdóttir in N. Dakota. He attended Middle School in Ballard and studied at University of Washington in Seattle for two years. He was engineer at the large Pitney Bowes Inc. He joinrd the army and served for three years during Second World War in Europe. Nancy was daughter of Ralph Emerson Warren and Ásta Ruby Brown, daughter of Jóhann Jóhannsson Straumfjörð and Björg Kristjánsdóttir in Seattle.
