Gudrun Hognadottir, daughter Jonina and Johannes Jonsson Photo BROT
Jóhannes Jónsson was born December, 1838 in Norður-Múlasýsla. Died in New Iceland in 1913.
Spouse: 1) Guðrún Högnadóttir b. 1840 in Nordur- Mulasysla, d.1899. 2) Halldóra Soffía Þorleifsdóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1867, d. 1906.
Children: Johannes and Gufrun had three sons all of whom died very young. Gudrun gave birth to one en route accross the Atlantic Ocean. Rev. Páll Þorláksson christened the boy upon arrival in Winnipeg in late August. His name was Alexander. Two daughters lived: 1. Solveig b. 1879 2. Jónína b. 1876.
Johannes and Gudrun emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1877 and from there to the Icelandic River Settlement in New Iceland. Halldóra Thorleifsdottir emigrated in 1900.
