Kristjón Finnsson was born in Snæfellsnessýsla in 1853. Died in 1924 in New Iceland.

Kristjón emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and onwards to Halldór Friðriksson´s in Mikley in New Iceland. He worked in several places in the colony before claiming land in Mikley he called Tjörnes. Due to poor quality he abandoned Tjörnes and moved to the Icelandic River Settlement where he managed a store. Shortly after Þórunn´s death he left Icelandic River and claimed land in the Viðir Settlement.
