Sveinn emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents in 1889 and onwards to Argyle Settlement. He lived in Winnipeg briefly prior to moving west to Vallar Settlement (Gerald) in Saskatchewan. He homesteaded there but sold that land a few years later and bought another near Tantallon where they lived for 40 years. Retired from farming they moved into town.
