They came from Iceland in 1891 and first lived in Winnipeg. From there they moved to New Iceland and lived for a time south of Gimli,
but then took land in the Ardals Settlement in 1902. In 1914, he and his wife Ólöf Ingólfsdóttir moved onto 60 acres they named Furuvöllur in the Geysir Settlement.
