Torfhildur Hólm was born in Austur-Skaftafellssýsla February 2, 1845. Died in Iceland November 14, 1918.

Torfhildur emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876. She was Rannveig Jónasson´s sister-in-law and traveled with her and Sigtryggur Jónasson north to Icelandic River in New Iceland. She stayed with them and moved along when they decided in 1881 to move to Winnipeg. She returned to Iceland around 1890. She was a writer and a few of her novels were published in Iceland.
