Guðmundur Símonarson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla on September 27, 1865. He died in Manitoba on July 5, 1927.
Spouse: Guðrún Jónsdóttir Nordal b. on April 15, 1871 in Mýrasýsla. She died on August 15, 1927.
They were childless but took in a foster girl, Myrtle, the daughter of Guðmundur’s sister.
Guðmundur came west to Ontario, Canada with his parents and sister in 1874. They spend the first winter in Kinmount, where his sister, Gudrun, died three years later. From there, they moved to New Iceland, and in 1882 the family moved to the Argyle Settlement. Guðmundur worked there until the turn of the century, then moved in 1903 to Glenboro and ran a farming business with another man for a few years. He disappeared for a few years, but finally ended up in Winnipeg. Guðrún came west to Manitoba with her parents in 1876.
