Páll Jónsson was born in S. Múlasýsla on January 9, 1836. He died on May 6, 1907.
Spouse: Ólöf Níelsdóttir born in S. Múlasýsla in 1847. She died in Árborg in 1946.
Children: 1) Vilborg b. 1865 2) Kristján b. 1866 3) Níels b. 1869 4) Oddný b. 1871 5) Pálína b. 1874 6) Páll died after one year in New Iceland 7) Albert 8) Björn 9) Kristín Guðbjörg d. 1919. Páll’s son, Marteinn, also came west with them. He was born in 1860.
They emigrated to New Iceland in 1876 and took land just west of Gimli and named the farm Nýjabæ. They lived there four years before moving to Winnipeg where they lived the next nine years. They then moved to the Grunnavatn Settlement for a year and moved next to the Argyle Settlement. In 1900 they moved to the Vallar Settlement in Saskatchewan.
