Jón came west in 1889 and worked for a while with Friðjón Friðriksson in the Argyle Settlement. They later moved to Baldur where they lived the rest of their lives. Gunnlaug came west in 1879 with her father, Jóhann Jónsson and her younger sister, Þorbjörg.
