Páll Friðriksson was born on December 26, 1880 in Húnavatnssýsla. He died in New Iceland on September 13, 1958. He took the name Vídalín in the west.

Páll came west with his mother, Sigurlaug Jónsdóttir, and elder sister, Ragnheiður, in 1887. They lived in Winnipeg until 1892 and then moved to the Icelandic River Settlement in New Iceland. Friðrika was the daughter of Pétur Árnason of Árskógur in the same settlement. Páll took over the farm and lived there the rest of his life.
