Gunnar came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents in 1893 and moved with them to Mikley in New Iceland. Ingibjörg emigrated in 1899 and lived in Winnipeg. She and Gunnar lived in Gimli, Winnipeg and the Árnes Settlement before settling in Riverton in 1917. They lived there until 1922/23 and then moved to Gimli. They later moved to Winnipeg.
