Skúli came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents, Sigfús Skúlason and Regína Jóhannsdóttir, and two siblings in 1883. All went south to the Icelandic settlements near Mountain, N. Dakota. They moved north to the country east of Caliento, Manitoba in 1910. Sigfús and Margrét died there. Skúli, Regína, and Guðrún moved north to Riverton in 1920 and lived there together.
