Oddur was an employee of Guðrún Illugadóttir in Húnavatnssýsla and brought her and her children west to New Iceland in 1900. They lived longest in the Isafold Settlement. They stopped farming in 1920. Oddur then lived with friends in New Iceland before moving to Bethel in Gimli in 1929.
