Gestur Sigurðsson was born on June 22, 1859 in Mýrasýsla. He died in the Lundar Settlement on April 6, 1940.

Gestur and Valgerður emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1882 and lived there some years. They moved to the Isafold Settlement, north of Riverton but were forced off their land and moved to the Lundar Settlement in 1902.
