Ármann Jónasson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on July 22, 1861. He died in Riverton on August 25, 1940.

They emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893 and settled in Selkirk. In 1905 they bought land in the Isafold Settlement and moved there a year later. But the land was hard, wet, and was not able to provide enough hay. They moved from there in 1911 to Winnipeg, where Ósk worked in a hotel, but Ármann continued farming in New Iceland during the summer. They returned to the Isafold Settlement in 1913. Ármann visited Iceland in 1920 but returned to New Iceland a year later and settled in Riverton.
