Jóhann came west with his parents in 1875 to Rhinelander, Wisconsin. They moved to the Lyon County Settlement in 1878 and Jóhann worked on his father’s land. He later bought his own land in the Lincoln County Settlement. Jórunn was one year old when she emigrated with her parents in 1887.
