Þorsteinn Guðmundsson: Born in N. Múlasýsla on June 7, 1838. He took the name Austdal in the west. He died on February 23, 1917.

Jakob Pétur Guðmundsson b. 1865 2. Þorvaldur (Thor) Guðmundsson b. 1868 3. Sigfinnur (Finnur) Guðmundsson b. 1870 4. Illegitimate child Sigurjón Jónsson b. 1878; his father was Jón Ívarsson. Sigurjón is listed as Guðmundsson in the west. The sons are listed as Goodman in the US Census.
Þorsteinn came west in 1875 and took land in the Lincoln County Settlement in Minnesota in 1878. Ingibjörg came west the same year with her sons Jakob Pétur, Sigfinn and Sigurjón. Þorvaldur came west in 1880 with Eyjólf Björnsson.
