Jónas Skúlason was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1829.
Unmarried and childless.
He emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and traveled on to New Iceland. He took land in the Víðirnes Settlement and named his farm Fjón, where he lived for 12 years. He moved to Selkirk in 1899.
