They emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 and traveled south to N. Dakota that same year. They moved to Winnipeg in the spring of 1884 and stayed there a year. They followed the road to the Víðirnes Settlement in New Iceland in the spring of 1885. Their sons, Jóhannes, Björn, and Jakob all took land in the Víðir Settlement north of Arborg, and there moved Sigvaldi and Ingibjörg in 1910.
