Jón Eiríksson was born on August 24, 1841 in S. Múlasýsla. He died in New Iceland on December 24, 1919.
Spouse: October 2, 1862 Guðný Magnúsdóttir b. in N. Múlasýsla on January 20, 1841 d. January 7, 1931.
Children: 1. Magnús b. 1865, d. November 27, 1900 2. Snjólaug b. May 6, 1867, d. July 6, 1947. Four additional children died in childhood. Jón also had two children with Petrína Jónsdóttir at Berufjarðarströnd: 1. Guðný b.January 12, 1876 2. Sveinbjörn b. February 17, 1879. They went west with their father.
They emigrated to Nova Scotia in 1879 and lived there three years. They moved west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1882 and lived there until 1885 when they moved to New Iceland and settled in the Víðirnes Settlement.
