Guðný emigrated west in 1887 to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Nothing is know about Jón’s emigration, but they settled in the Geysir Settlement. He studied blacksmithing in the west. Guðný died a few years before Jón and he then lived with Jóhannes Pétursson at Jaðar the last years.
